The ultimate add-on for your bike!

At Nova Ride, our goal is to offer components that improve the performance of all cyclists. When we unveiled our first Carbon Ceramic Derailleur (CCD) cage in 2020, we wanted to allow cyclists to reduce the internal friction of their drivetrains by offering derailleur cages with fully ceramic bearings.

In an effort to improve our product range, we wanted to take it a step further by playing on a new parameter that is very important in a cyclist's performance: aerodynamics.

The goal of creating this new product was to take the features that made our CCD successful and work on its aerodynamics. We sought to produce the most efficient component in order to satisfy the most demanding cyclists, because every second counts! It is from this observation that we created the CCD Aero, with our own design choices.

We decided to create our own vision of an aerodynamic cage in response to the solutions and prices of "Aero" products on the market. Our model, made from two ultra-light 3K carbon fiber plates (and plastic-free), offers a high-performance and right-priced solution for cyclists who care about their equipment and are looking for gains and optimization, of which we are one.

Design choices

After a long period of continuous development, fueled by constant dialogue with professional athletes, we are proud to present the final result: a full carbon structure, the result of multiple design iterations influenced by extensive software testing, wind tunnel testing and road testing. This new structure wraps around our existing optimized mechanical design.

Our CCD Aero design redefines aerodynamics by focusing on frontal area impact, as well as rear wind smoothing and control thanks to its unique aircraft wing design (closed at the front and rear of the cage).

Aerodynamic efficiency becomes more important the higher the speed, because the power required to accelerate increases dramatically. More the rider positions himself on the smaller sprockets, more he has to reduce his air resistance.

We used wind tunnel tests at the French AerOptimum test center to validate our design choices and test the effectiveness of our part in real conditions.

Compare

In order to concretely evaluate the benefits of our new Aero cage, we first collected comparative data on the original cage and our Nova Ride standard cage model.

Validate

The objective is to measure the concrete gains of our part over its entire angular range, ensuring the relevance of its design and evaluating its efficiency in a real situation.

This report presents a study on the purely aerodynamic nature of the new product and on the gains made independently of the mechanical efficiency of the transmission.

Our approach is based on concrete data, allowing a rigorous comparison: we compared the performances of the original cage and our standard Nova Ride cage in order to determine the real gains made by the latter.

From idea to reality

Months of development and feedback have allowed us to create our most efficient product to date. Its raw design reflects our priority: efficiency above all.

The CCD Aero represents the culmination of our know-how and results in the ultimate improvement for demanding and performance-conscious cyclists in disciplines such as time trials, triathlons and Ironman, where aerodynamics are essential.
